ESL BLUE Web Site Review

15 04 2007

ESL BLUE is a very useful website for English learners. It offers lessons for learners from pre-intermediate to high-intermediate level English. It calls these levels 1,2,3, meaning pre-intermediate, intermediate and high intermediate respectively.

There are quizzes and activities about adjectives, adverbs, articles, grammar, tenses, reading, verbs and vocabulary. It gives hints when a user makes a mistake about an answer. In my opinion, this is a very useful feature.

One thing I dislike about the site is the design. It could be done more professionally, and in this way, it would be more attractive for users.

cell phone etiquette – an article

2 04 2007

Here is a link that will take you to a person who has some suggestions about how we could use mobile phones in a less antisocial way. Any thoughts or comments?

http://www.infoworld.com/articles/op/xml/00/05/26/000526opwireless.html

Intermediates and Uppers, we shall be using this in class, so if you want to get a head start: print it off and have a look at some of the vocabulary. What kind of text does it remind you of? What kind of person do you think that the author is?

Important information

25 03 2007

There is a lot of material on the internet that you can use to help you with your English. There are a good number of links in the link section in the sidebar.

In addition to these links, EF will be sending you a password which you can use to access the English First materials. You will recieve your password in your email, so be careful that you don’t delete it thinking that it is spam.

This extra work is only for extra practice and is not intended to have any connection with your course books.

If you have any problems, them you should use the help email that you get with your password email. Or, you could just ask a friend.

Here are the links to the different levels:

Email——————–Online Level —————-Your Level

level1@efdilokulu.com Pre-Elementary ————–Beg 1-2

Here is what you should do:

1. Click on one of the links above and this will take you to your email. Click on the correct link for your level.

2. Write a short email and ask EF for a user name and a password. Send the email.

3. After a short time, you should recieve an answering email. This email should contain your username and password as well as a link to the study site. I understand that the link to the study site is: www.ingilizceokulu.com. Unfortunately, the site is in Turkish and I do not understand it as I am still a beginner :(

4. If you are successful in going to the site, please write a comment to tell us all about it.

Happy surfing :)
